Melodee House was named in honor of Melodee Grosfield who was a special needs child. Melodee passed away in 2000 from an inoperable brain tumor. She was 29.
Melodee House operates without governmental funding, relying on private resources and charitable giving to support operating costs and the scholarship fund for services. In 2000, West Mont created a Melodee House Advisory Board to oversee the planning and fundraising for this new respite facility. Because of the countless hours and support from the following individuals, Melodee House became a reality: John Betts, Lowell Bartels, Karen Davis, Bill and Becky Eiker, Lynne Grosfield, Mary McWhorter, David Simkins, Ed Sexton, Dr. Mike and Brenda Strekall, Ed Sexton, and West Mont Staff members Susan Pesta and Richard Saravalli.
